Ponoturi
Ponoturi
Sea Faeries, or sometimes referred to as goblins, of maori mythology with some characteristics being strikingly similar to those of the Patupaiarehe.
They appear with red hair and white skin and fingers with long claws. They come onto the land at night and spend their days under the sea.
They fear the sunlight and should it fall on them, they will perish. Like the Patupaiarehe, they also fear fire and eat their food raw.
